Our National Audition Tour is your opportunity to be considered for Alberta Ballet School's 2025 Summer Intensive and/or for the 2025-26 Professional Division!

This fall and winter, Alberta Ballet School faculty will travel across Canada to audition for placements in our 2025 Summer Intensive.

Summer Intensive is a three-week program of full-day intensive training taught by Alberta Ballet School faculty. The 3-week program includes Ballet, Pointe Work, Pas de Deux (for select levels), Repertoire, Variations, Contemporary, Character Dance and Body Conditioning.

Designed to strengthen and develop your abilities as a dancer, this is an opportunity to explore a short-term commitment to intensive professional ballet training and connect with dance students from across Canada!

Alberta Ballet School operates its year-round residence program at the Mount Royal University campus. Our dedicated full-time team provides exceptional care and support for our Summer Intensive students, ensuring a nurturing environment throughout the program.


Summer Intensive 2025 Dates:

July 21 – August 8

June 30 – July 18


Ballet students in grades 5-8: register in the Junior Student Auditions.

Ballet students in grades 9-12: register in the Senior Student Auditions.

Looking for graduate training? We'll also audition dance students aged 18+ for our Post-Graduate Program.

These auditions can secure your spot in our Summer Intensive and/or in the 2025-26 full-year program.

Why Alberta Ballet School Summer Intensive?

Alberta Ballet School attracts students from around the world to this 3-week program. This program advances ballet technique and artistry through:

  • An internationally-recognized ballet curriculum
  • Mentorship and instruction from experienced faculty, guest teachers and Alberta Ballet's professional dancers
  • An active commitment to healthy balanced training in partnership with the University of Calgary's Dance Science faculty (member of the International Association of Dance Medicine)

We also offer a Summer Residence program for visiting students. Residence life, located at Calgary's Mount Royal University Campus, is designed to create a fun, memorable experience, forging strong social connections in a peer group who all share a passion for dance and ballet.


How do I audition?

You can audition for the 2025 Summer Intensive:

- in person at a location on our audition tour,

- by Zoom on the dates of our virtual auditions (Watch this page for dates and registration links), or

- by video submission.

Following a successful Summer Intensive audition, prospective students will receive information on the next steps to audition for our full-year 2025/26 Professional Division Program.


Looking to further pursue dance after grade 12? Audition for our Post Graduate Programs!

Acceptance to our Post Graduate Program is a 2-step process. Following a successful first audition (by video, in person or virtual), prospective students will be invited to a second virtual group audition. Final results will be provided within 1 month of this second audition.
