Top Performer - 87% Honour Students

Our school is a consistent top performer amongst schools in the province with 48% of our students scoring excellence (80% and higher) on grade 12 diploma exams compared to 24% across the province. On the Grade 9 Provincial Achievement Tests, 47% of our students achieve excellence compared to only 19% achieving excellence across the province. This standard of excellence is also reflected within our school, demonstrated by 87% of our students achieving honour roll status, leadership or citizenship awards across both Junior and Senior High programs.

Academic Strength

The strengths of our academic program ensure students who choose not to pursue a career in dance after graduation can meet university entrance requirements. Students’ post-secondary pursuits are carefully monitored by our academic staff to ensure post-secondary program requirements are consistent with each student’s academic timetable.

Learning Environment

Our students experience positive, personalized learning in a high achieving environment which caters to the unique background, talent and abilities of each student. Students have many opportunities to participate in field trips, cultural events, and school sponsored events and activities to promote leadership, citizenship and increase school involvement. ABS is committed to creating well-rounded, global citizens. Character education, community involvement and whole school wellness are key elements of our academic programming.

Student Services

To support students to achieve their goals, the services of a Career Advisor assists students with career planning, university programs and applications, post-secondary dance training options, and scholarships. As a school with a large international student base, we offer English Language Learner support to assist students with English language proficiency to help with their transition; from entering into Canada and learning a new language all the way to a successful high school graduation. A Registered Psychologist is available to help students with their social-emotional needs and to support students through the transitions and challenges related to life, dance and school.
