Alberta Ballet School's Summer Intensive

The Alberta Ballet School offers an intensive summer program designed to enhance your technique and artistry under the guidance of our renowned instructors. During this program, students will train 30 hours per week in ballet, pointe work, contemporary dance, and other disciplines, with mentorship from our acclaimed teachers.

Our intensive summer program is more than just training; it's also about connection. You'll refine your technique and deepen your craft alongside peers from Canada and around the world.

This program also serves as a final audition for those who wish to join our full-year program in September.

Summer Intensive 2026

Summer Intensive Program

Alberta Ballet School's Summer Intensive is a three-week intensive training program taught by instructors from Alberta Ballet School. It includes ballet, pointe work, pas de deux (for some levels), repertoire, variations, contemporary dance, character dance and physical conditioning. In 2026, the Summer Intensive dates are June 29 - July 17, 2026 and July 20 - August 7, 2026.

Summer Intensive is designed to strengthen and develop your skills as a dancer, and is an opportunity to explore a short term commitment to intensive professional ballet training and connect with students from around the world.

Ballet Students in Grade 5-8: register for auditions as a junior student.

Ballet Students in Grade 9-12: register for auditions as a senior student.

Ballet Students who have graduated high school: learn more about our Post Graduate Program.

Auditioning at one of our Audition Tour locations, online or via video is your first step towards Summer Intensive acceptance and also into the full year 2026-2027 program.

Alberta Ballet School operates a year-round residence program at the Mount Royal University campus. Our dedicated full-time team provides exceptional guidance to summer intensive students, ensuring a safe environment throughout the program.

Residence life during the Summer Intensive is designed to provide students with opportunities to socialize with other participants, explore the City of Calgary, and enjoy a memorable experience within the city. All activities are planned and communicated before the three week intensive begins and will be listed on an activity calendar provided closer to the start of the program.
